Day Four of Week Two
Anything Too Hard
Today's Treasure: Genesis 18: 14
"Is anything too hard for the LORD?"
Today's lesson is a reminder to us all that NOTHING is too difficult for the God we serve! Yes, you say you know this as a fact; however, do you live life like it is a fact? I can honestly tell=2 0you that, until last March, I did not live my life in the assurance that NOTHING is too difficult for God. Now, my life depends on it! Now my life depends on the Almighty, and I can tell you that I have never been happier in Him. I see His glory on a daily basis now, and I know to enjoy every second because it is a gift. You know, I could live my life moaning and groaning about having a terminal disease. What in the world would that accomplish (besides running off every opportunity to witness)! Each of us is terminal, we live every day with the realization that, one day, we will no longer live here on earth. I can promise you that the last day God give us on earth can only be determined by Him. There is not a doctor alive that knows when I will draw my last breath. I envision myself giving my testimony at eighty years old and praising God for the fact that breast cancer was not too difficult for Him.
Read Genesis 18: 1 – 15. Record everything you find peculiar or especially intriguing in this wonderful segment of Scripture; ask God any corresponding questions you wish you could hear Him audibly explain.
It is fascinating that Abraham bowed as soon as he saw the three men approach. He knew these visitors were no ordinary visitors.
Yet, why did he treat them as travelers if he knew it was the LORD?
Were the three men a representation of the trinity?
Did Sarah know it was the LORD?
What is the meaning of the Great tree of Mamre…they talk about it an awful lot?
Why did Sarah lie if she knew it was the LORD?
Typology is a doctrine of theological types; esp: one holding that things in Christian belief are prefigured or symbolized by things in the Old T estament.
What happens in Genesis 18: 16, 22?
The men turn and go towards Sodom.
The LORD asks the men in Scripture if He should reveal to Abraham what He must do to Sodom. I love how he speaks to Abraham about the outcry that has reached Him. Doesn't this just scream to you about how important your cries are to the LORD?
Now take a look at Genesis 19: 1. How are the two now identified?
The two men traveling with the LORD are described as Angels in this Scripture
LORD, as we have mentioned numerous times before, refers to the covenant God. Lord refers to a sir or a master.
Fill in these blanks exactly as the letters of each word appear in Psalm 8: 1
"O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!"
Check out Genesis 18: 12. What did Sarah call her husband?
"So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, "After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?' "
What very specific prophecy did Sarah overhear (v. 10)?
By the same time the next year she would have a son
We see another association of Isaac and laughter. Why did Sarah laugh (v. 12)?
She laughed at the thought of having a child at such an old age. She was in shock or taken by surprise
Do you ever feel too weary, worn and beaten up by life to believe God can do anything wonderful and miraculous with you?
Honestly, between Scott and Tina's accident, losing Brian's mom and now dealing with cancer myself, I would have to say YES to this one!!! But I long to be a miracle of God so I can proclaim His works. Not only will I speak of the miracle he did in my life when I am healed, but others will speak of His miracle when they look at me. Isn't that amazing to think of?
Dear One, may I ask you a blunt question? Do you believe in miracles?
Yes because my God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Miracles happen every single day for believers. We just cannot doubt them.
The most important line in the entire encounter is the question the LORD posed to Abraham in Genesis 18: 14. Place your name before the comma as if God is posing the question just to you. Please write the question on the line below:
________________, Why did you laugh and say can God cure me of this cancer? Is anything too hard for the LORD?
Describe a time when you deeply anticipated a time with God
Right before I go in for a scan, I cherish my time with God as He calms me like only He can.
What part of time spent with the Father means the most to you?
The calmness of His presence and how sure I feel of His miracles in His presence
